In 2011, I participated in La Presse contest entitled "Magic Moment of my holidays" for their corporate calendar. Twelve photos were selected among the 4200 receipts including mine. I will tell you the events that allowed me to create this photo.
It was the last day of a week of windsurfing vacation in Shippagan, New Brunswick. I was awake, and lying in my sleeping bag, I was reading a novel. It was around 6:30 in the morning and I then told myself that I should go take a picture to enjoy the beautiful morning light and the sunrise. Once dressed, I cycled with my camera bag to explore the surroundings. After riding a few minutes, I see a path that goes to the sea. I take a bike to the beach.
Arrived on the beach, I photograph the sunrise and also an old boat that is reflected in the sea that is like a mirror. I tell myself that I should photograph the boat with the rising sun in the back. So I take off my shoes, my stockings and I roll my pants to enter the sea. I approach and once installed in a good position, I wait for wavelets and eddies to calm down and that the mirror effect is perfect . I then take some pictures at different focal lengths with my 10-20mm Sigma, in aperture priority mode f8 and f11. The photo above is the one that is the most successful and it impressed enough the jury of the contest La Presse-Lozeau to place me among the winners.
I intend to get up early on my next vacation.
